Getting Started
What is a nonogram?
A nonogram — also called a picture cross, griddlers, hanjie, or Japanese crossword — is a logic puzzle on a grid. The numbers along each row and column tell you how many cells to fill and in what runs. Fill the right cells using logic and a hidden picture appears. No math, no trivia — just deduction.
How do I play the daily puzzle?
Open the app and tap Play on Today’s Puzzle. Tap a cell to fill it, or use the mark tool to flag a cell as empty. Use the clues along the edges to work out which cells belong to the picture. Solve the whole grid and the hand-drawn pixel art is revealed.
I’m stuck. Any tips?
Start with the largest clue numbers — they leave the fewest possibilities. Mark cells you know are empty; ruling cells out is just as useful as filling them in. Every NonoDay puzzle has exactly one solution reachable by logic, so you never need to guess. You can also turn on the optional mistake-check in Settings if you’d like a hand.
Gameplay
What are the difficulty levels?
NonoDay has four: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. Larger grids and tighter clues sit at the harder end. The free daily puzzle and all four levels are available without Premium.
Can I undo a move or zoom in?
Yes. Use undo and redo to step back and forth, and pinch-to-zoom to work comfortably on the larger grids.
What are color nonograms?
Color nonograms add a second twist: instead of just filled-or-empty, cells use a few colors, and the clues are color-coded. It’s paint-by-number logic. Color nonograms are part of NonoDay Premium.
Is the art really hand-drawn?
Yes. Every picture you reveal is drawn by a person — never generated by AI.
Streaks & Progress
How do streaks work?
Solve the daily puzzle and your streak goes up by one. Keep solving each day to grow it. You can turn on an optional daily reminder in Settings so you don’t forget — reminders are scheduled locally on your device, with no push servers involved.
Where can I see my solved pictures?
Every picture you reveal is saved to your in-app gallery, alongside solve-time stats and your streak history.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. NonoDay works fully offline — on a plane, the subway, anywhere. There’s no account and no sign-up. You only need a connection to download the app and to start or manage a Premium subscription.

What’s free vs Premium?
Free: One hand-crafted puzzle every day, all four difficulty levels, streaks, stats, and the picture gallery — with no ads, ever. Premium: Unlimited puzzles generated fresh, large 20×20 and 30×30 grids, color nonograms, and your full archive of solved pictures.
How much is Premium?
NonoDay Premium is $4.99/month, or $29.99/year (save 50%) with a 7-day free trial. The daily puzzle stays free whether or not you subscribe.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — the Premium Annual plan includes a 7-day free trial. You’ll only be charged at the end of the trial. Cancel any time in your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends and you won’t be charged.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you’ve previously purchased one on this Apple ID.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find NonoDay and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Privacy
What data does NonoDay collect?
None. There’s no account, no tracking, and no ads. Your progress, streaks, and solved pictures stay on your device. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
What permissions does the app need?
Effectively none. NonoDay doesn’t request your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, or location. The only optional permission is Notifications, used solely for the local daily-puzzle reminder if you turn it on.
